“Always listen to your heart, because even though it’s on your left side, it’s always right.” – Nicholas Sparks
If your dog or cat has a condition, it is sometimes quite difficult to find out which snacks are and are not suitable to give.
Earlier I wrote a blog about how nutrition can help with heart disease. You can read it here in case you missed it:
This week I’m sharing a tasty and easy snack that’s healthy for animals with heart disease. And of course, dogs and cats without heart disease can eat this snack as well!
Why is this snack healthy?
I’ve chosen fresh, natural ingredients that are packed with essential nutrients.
Together, these ingredients have an ideal potassium:sodium ratio, which is important for regulating blood pressure and preventing excessive strain on the heart. The antioxidants from blueberries, broccoli, mushrooms, and hemp seeds help fight free radicals and reduce inflammation, which is essential for a healthy heart. Vitamin D from eggs and mushrooms supports calcium absorption and promotes bone and heart health. Magnesium and B vitamins from yogurt, broccoli and mushrooms support energy metabolism and muscle function, including the heart muscle. Finally, these ingredients also contain omega-3 fatty acids that help reduce inflammation and support heart health.
Ingredients
- Egg (boiled or scrambled without fat) 100 grams
- Dried Heart ❤️60 grams. Grind it until it has a powder structure.
- Yogurt Preferably sheep or goat yogurt. 100 grams.
- Blueberries 30 grams
- Broccoli finely chopped and cooked 60 grams
- Mushrooms cooked in a little bit of unsalted butter 60 grams
- Hemp seeds finely ground 6 grams
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients well in a bowl
- You can prepare this snack in two ways:
- Frozen snacks: Put the mixed ingredients in shapes and place in the freezer until frozen.
- Lightly baked: Put the mixed ingredients in molds suitable for baking and bake in the oven at 135 degrees Celsius for about 8 minutes
Have fun making and eating this snack!
